Smartstamp is a great product from the Royal Mail, it is like having a franking machine but without all the hidden costs.

The only down side to the product is it was designed to print directly onto envelopes, which can be difficult.  Using A4 sheet labels offers a low cost comvenient solution allowing you to get the most from this product.
